My name is Katherine Michaels, I’m 59 years old, and I‘m an office manager at a law firm. My son got married a few months ago and left home. So, now that I have more time to myself, I thought it’s time to start taking care of me. The first thing I did was join a walking group.
One day a couple of months ago, we were taking our walk, enjoying the fresh air, when I suddenly started to feel very strange. I had a sense of fullness and tightness in my chest, but I also felt really nauseated. It was the nausea that confused me at first—I thought I ate something that didn't agree with me, or maybe I was getting a virus. Turns out I was having a heart attack.
It was a huge shock. But when I thought about it, maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised. My life has been pretty stressful, and I haven’t always made the best food choices. I also smoked cigarettes for 20 years, but I quit a year ago.
The heart attack made me think about my life-style and the choices I was making. Now I focus on eating foods that are good for me, exercising, and managing my stress better. And I take Aspirin® Cardio regularly, as directed by my doctor. My doctor says that Aspirin has been proven to help prevent second heart attacks. I’m a big believer in that little pill. I plan to be around to enjoy my time with my family, especially with my new grandchild on the way!
