Prevention and Wellbeing
The value of soap and water. Washing our hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds is a healthy habit than can spare us of many potential colds, since cold-causing germs can survive several hours on any kind of surface. That’s why, Clare frequently washes her hands with warm water and soap. In that way, she makes sure she's leaving outside all the viruses she doesn’t want inside her body.
The importance of relaxing and enjoying rest. The idea of lying on a bed of dried leaves is, to Clare, the image of relaxation. But it’s also an ounce of prevention! When she lies down, totally into her music and her environment, without any distractions and resting she helps to support her immune system, What’s your favorite relaxing moment?
Your body appreciates it when you don’t smoke. Clare is a non-smoker, which is great! Smoking produces mucosal disruption, which provides a welcoming environment for cold-causing viruses. Smog and secondhand smoke also play a part; therefore, a daily walk in parks or tree-lined city blocks, where the air is fresher, is a big help for preventing colds.
Move your body. It has been proven that aerobic exercise helps the body not only boost its metabolism but also improve its defenses. Sweating removes toxins, allow tissues to oxygenate and allow blood to reach all parts of our body; this helps support your immune system. The long walks taken by Clare, our future lawyer, are a perfect example.
NOTE: These recommendations can be followed by any person wanting to support their immune system and avoid getting colds.
